Neleonora Profitt, May 17, 1932 - January 29, 2014

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Nellie on Wednesday morning, the 29th of January. Nellie was born in southern Manitoba to a large Mennonite family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Sydney; daughters, Debra (Jack) and Sandra; four grandchildren, Carmen, Sheila, Justin and Kendall; siblings, Bessie, Ben and Frank; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Nellie was predeceased by her son Robert Edwin in 2007 and siblings Kathi and Neil.

She appreciated her heritage and had fond memories and stories of growing up on the farm with her five siblings. The family moved to Matsqui, BC during the depression, just in time for the big flood of 1948. The help the family received from the Salvation Army inspired mom's giving nature which helped many charities. She moved to Powell River to start her teaching career, and it was there she met the love of her life, working up on a ladder, while she tried to teach. Nellie had a way with young children and was passionate about teaching. She entertained her students, cheerfully accompanying their singing with autoharp and ukelele.

She later became office manager at Westview Electric, working alongside her husband Syd. She embraced her role and was instrumental in organizing and maintaining all aspects of the office. Nellie thoroughly enjoyed interacting with both staff and customers. In her spare time Nellie enjoyed playing her favourite games, caring for her grandchildren and spending time up the lake at “Goat Villa”. Nellie had a big heart and was committed to her family and friends.

Our family is grateful that Nellie will now be reunited with her son Rob.

There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, February 15, at 1 pm at The Savoury Bight, 7074 Westminster Street.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your selection. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Westcoast Funeral Service. To submit condolences, please visit www.wcfuneral.com.
