Sherry Lynn Makus (née Morrissey)

It is with great sadness that we announce that Sherry, born January 31, 1963 in Powell River, BC, has passed away on January 2, 2012 at her parents’ home, surrounded by her family after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Sherry leaves behind her husband Ian Makus, son Broden (Monique) D’Angio, daughter Katelyn (Terence) D’Angio, parents Mr. and Mrs. John Morrissey, brothers Robert (Cher) and Richard (Sherry), in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makus, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. All who knew Sherry loved her immensely and it is the joyful memories of her smile, laughter, and one-of-a-kind personality that comforts those of us she has left behind.

Ruby died peacefully after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Stanley, daughter Christine, sons Martin (Lisa) and David (Terry), and predeceased by her brothers Gerald and Eddie.

Ruby was born in Luton, England to Edward and Mabel Roser. She lived in London during World War II, emigrating to Canada in 1956 with her husband and children to join her mother in Vancouver. She also spent some time in Powell River. Ruby had a long and successful career in the steel industry, and started her own business, Rustan Metals Ltd., at which she worked until very recently.

Ruby had many interests, including volunteering at auto racing tracks and with the Vancouver Little  Theatre Association. She loved travelling in Mexico and made many trips there.

Ruby was a loving wife and mother and she will be sadly missed by those who knew her.
