Raymonde Reneé DeVito, August 30, 1922 - January 14, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymonde. She will be remembered by her loving husband Louie, sister-in-law Edith and many nieces and nephews.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymonde. She will be remembered by her loving husband Louie, sister-in-law Edith and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Marie and Robert Bezencon and sister Mary.

Raymonde worked for many years as a travel agent in Powell River and travelled to Switzerland and throughout Europe. She will be remembered for walking everywhere she needed to go and for enjoying her ice cream and chocolate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Powell River General Hospital Foundation. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 1 pm at Powell River United Church.


Juhan (John) Luksepp, November 29, 1925 - January 11, 2013

Juhan was born in Estonia and died in Powell River General Hospital. During World War II, at age 15, he became a soldier resisting Russian occupation and fighting his way through Poland, Germany and Belgium before being transferred to England. There he met and married Marta, and with her two children, immigrated to Canada in 1957, settling in Powell River, where “Popeye” became an employee of the mill.

Juhan was predeceased by his beloved wife Marta and will be remembered by stepdaughters Mai Clark and Tiiu Noukas (Lance Groner), granddaughters Tracy Beveridge and Melissa Bonn and their families. Also missing him is his sister Laine Soesoo who lives in Estonia with her family. A family memorial is planned.

Juhan was a cat lover, rock hound, target shooter, fisher and gardener.


Marie Smith, Born November 24, 1933 - Spiritual Journey January 12, 2013

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Smith who peacefully left us on January 12, surrounded by her devoted and loving family.

Marie was predeceased by her son Tracy in 1996 and is survived by her ever-loving husband of 57 years Jim Smith. She is also survived by her children who adored her, David, Jimmy (Jan), Tony, Wayne (Denise), Dianne, Gabrielle and Kathy-Jo (Glen). Marie leaves behind many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, as well as her dog Molly who loved her dearly.

The family would like to acknowledge the nursing staff at Powell River General Hospital for the care and kindness shown to Marie and her family. A very special thank you to Hailey and Ursula, your kindness will not be forgotten. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Naude for his care and guidance.

Please join our family in remembering and celebrating Marie’s life on Friday, January 18 from 1 - 3 pm at Stubberfield Funeral Home.
