Jack Byles, May 30, 1919 - January 17, 2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Byles who peacefully left us on January 17. Jack was predeceased by his son Floyd on December 4, 2012. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 72 years Mildred. He is also survived by his children David (Janet), Marie (George) and Norita. Jack leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the home support workers for their care and kindness shown to Jack, also the nursing staff at Powell River General Hospital for the care and comfort they provided Jack in his final days. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Sally Watson for her care, guidance and understanding.
Please join our family in remembering and celebrating Jack’s life on Thursday, January 24, at 1 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 164 lower hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation PO Box 416, Powell River, BC, V8A 5C2.
Loretta "Lori" Buchan, 1933 - 2013
It is with great sorrow that the family of Lori announce her sudden passing at the age of 79, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Powell River.
Lori was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on September 7, 1933. She lived in Savant Lake, Ontario where she met and married Ivan in 1951. Lori was a stay-at-home mom as they raised three young boys. Once the boys had grown up Lori joined the work force working as an assistant cook at the Savant Lake Hotel and later on in the bush camps around Savant Lake. Upon retirement she and Ivan moved to Powell River where she enjoyed her retirement by getting involved with golfing, swimming, square dancing and socializing with friends.
She is survived by her three sons Ron, James (Rita), and Dale (Sherri), as well as six brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren Tyler, Tasha, Sarah, Kristyna, Emily and Ann-Marie and one great-granddaughter Sydney as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Monica, husband Ivan, sister Virginia, daughter-in-law Linda and great-grandson Kellen. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 23 at 1:30 pm at Stubberfield Chapel. Lori has been cremated and interment will take place at a later date.
Sally Lorraine Stevenson, October 13, 1945 - January 14, 2013
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sally Stevenson, formerly of Powell River, a special mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Sally was predeceased by husband Robert and son Bobby. She leaves behind her daughter Diane Stevenson, grandchildren Jessica and Tyler Grant, sister Barb (Gordie) Woods, brothers Ken (Linda) Frederick, Barry (Irene) Frederick and Brian Waite.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 26, at 1:30 pm at Salvation Army Community Church, 291 McLean Street, Campbell River, BC.
The emptiness she has left in all our lives can only be understood by those who knew and loved her.
