Margaret Anne Lloyd, (Dr. Lees)
With great sadness, the family of Anne Lloyd announces her sudden but peaceful passing. She was predeceased by her husband Dick Lloyd in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Ruth, Joan and Margaret and six granddaughters.
Anne was born in Liverpool, England and received her medical training at Liverpool University, graduating in 1949. After relocating to BC in the 1950s, she started working at the 60-bed Powell River Hospital, and in the early 1960s, she provided medical care for the residents of Texada Island, commuting by water taxi. She had a fulfilling medical career in Powell River for over 30 years.
Anne was very active in the community. In her earlier years she was very involved with the Girl Guides of Canada and more recently she had given her time to hospice and the stroke recovery club. Anne enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking and going for long swims in the ocean.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Bible Society, 10 Carnforth Road, Toronto, Ontario M4A 2S4.
Thelma Mutas (née Ouellette)
Thelma Mutas, late of Saturna Place, Powell River and formerly of her beloved Sevilla Island, died peacefully on January 21, 2011 in her 86th year at Evergreen Extended Care Unit of Powell River General Hospital after a life that gave love, joy and inspiration to all who knew her. She was the dearly beloved wife of the late Charlie Mutas and mother of the late Donna Graham and will be sadly missed by her daughter Diana, sons Ray and Jim, daughters-in-law Kathy and Carol, adored grandchildren Louise, Jenny, Keith, Allison, Arthur, Jen, Wayne, Sherrie and Melanie, great-grandchildren Lauren, Alan, Nickie, Oisin, Joshwa, Jason, Derrick and Isiac, and sadly missed by her sisters and brothers, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews and many good kind friends whom she cherished and enjoyed. Her life has been blessed with a deep love of family to whom she gave immeasurable love and was loved greatly in return. May she rest in peace.
