Mass of Christian Burial for the late Frederick (Fred) Charles Rhodes will be held at 1 pm Saturday, January 31 at Church of the Assumption. Prayers will be said at 7 pm Friday evening, also at Church of the Assumption.


Kathryn Philip

Mrs. Kathryn Philip passed away January 17, 2015, aged 86 years. She is survived by her husband, John Philip, daughter Susan English of Enderby, son Griffin Philip of Powell River, and granddaughter Loni English of Victoria, along with greatgrandsons Darrion and Theron English.

A memorial service was held January 19, 2015 at Kamloops Seniors Village. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Kamloops Seniors Village for their kindness and care over the years. Gioacchino “Jack” Ciarniello

Born in Bagnoli Del Trigno January 31, 1929, Jack passed away peacefully on January 26, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Pasquale and Erminia, his sister Maria and his son Pasquale “Pat.” Jack is survived by his loving wife Emilia “Emily” of 64

years, his sister Filomena, brothers Italo and Settimio “Sam,” grandsons Jordan and Darren and great-grandchildren Tanner, Autumn and Ayla.

A funeral will be held at Church of the Assumption at 11 am Friday, January 30. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Powell River General Hospital.


Leonard Harry Penner ~ August 12, 1949 - January 25, 2015

Born in St. Catharines, ON, Leonard passed away in Powell River at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his loving wife Lori, children Rob of Powell River and Shannon (Sean) of Courtenay, BC, grandchildren Caden, Keyairra and Seairra, brother CJ (Marion) and sisters Mary (Hank) and Helen. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

A gathering to celebrate Leonard’s life will be held at 2 pm Thursday, January 29 from the chapel of Stubberfield Funeral Home Ltd, 7221 Duncan Street. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Parkinson Society Canada.
