Jim Sneddon, April 24, 1943 - December 24, 2012

Jim passed away suddenly of heart failure while on vacation in London. He will be sorely missed by his wife Sharon, daughters Victoria (Bill) and Debra (Graham), grandchildren Trevor and Diana (Jason) and many friends.


Virginia “Ginny” Zuccato

Ginny, of Courtenay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her husband of 58 years, John, daughter Carrie (Lyman), son Stephen, grandson Tony and lifelong friend Anndreyea Kylo, as well as her many friends.

Private cremation arrangements have been made. Donations in Ginny’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1509 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC, V9N 2K6, would be appreciated.

Colleen Mary Plett, September 27, 1930 - December 24, 2012

With sadness, Wanda and Lance announce the passing of their mother Colleen Mary Plett on December 24, 2012, at age 82. Colleen proudly was born, spent her life, and passed away in Powell River. She was the only child of Mike and Mary Boyce, who moved to Powell River as newlyweds in 1923. Colleen was married to Peter Plett for 59 years and together they had two children, three grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and a wonderful life. Peter passed away in 2009 and Colleen missed him every day. In their retired years they enjoyed travelling to many places including Great Britain, the USA and Australia. Colleen leaves her daughter Wanda, son Lance (Janet), grandchildren Mica (Nadine), Flint (Kerry) and Amber (Brendan) and great-grandchildren Blake, Tavis, Aimee, Joel and Taylor.

Elsie Margaret Shaw, November 7, 1931 - January 3, 2013

Elsie was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with her parents at the age of 16 at which time Powell River became her home. She was a long-time employee of the “old” Powell River General Hospital and member of the St. Andrews Ladies Club.

Elsie was predeceased by her parents and brothers William (Bill) and John, but is survived by her daughter Teresa, grandson Jordan, nieces, nephews and many close and wonderful friends.

Elsie was a talented knitter and baker and will be remembered for the beautiful baby sets and shawls she created, an endless supply of dish cloths as well as her amazing caramel bar.
