Johnny J. Phare, November 18, 1954 - July 5, 2015
Johnny Joe Phare was born in Davis Bay, BC on November 18, 1954, the third youngest of eight siblings.
A tree faller by trade, John began his life-long career in the forest industry in his late teens working in camps, then as a supervisor, and eventually running his own company.
From his rabble-rousing days to being a family man running a company, John always maintained his sense of humour and his light-heartedness. He was hardworking, honest and had integrity. Always kind and doing for others.
He loved to play ball and soccer and spent many years coaching his kids or standing at the sidelines cheering them on.
His life will continue to be celebrated by his fiancé Kimiko Hawkes (and her family), his kids Miro, Alana (Tyler), Chris (Janelle), his sisters and brothers Bonnie (Ed), Lonnie (Patty), Ruth (Dean), Susan (Glen), Kenny (Janice), Sarah (Phil) and countless other family, friends, co-workers and community members. He was predeceased by his parents Allan Phare and Grace McMurdo and older brother Ronald Phare.
John passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 while working alongside many men and women doing what had to be done, doing what they could to put out the forest fire at the Old Sechelt Mine.
John, may you inspire us all to be better people. We love you and we thank you.
Celebration of life: Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 1 to 3 pm, Gibsons and Area Community Centre Arena. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
