Richard (Dick) James Horspool Richard (Dick) James Horspool passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011 at the age of 81. Dick was born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver on August 28, 1929. He grew up in West Vancouver.

Richard (Dick) James Horspool passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011 at the age of 81. Dick was born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver on August 28, 1929. He grew up in West Vancouver. In his early years he developed a lifelong love of boating through his involvement with the West Vancouver Yacht Club.

Dick and his wife Fran moved to Powell River in 1954 where they made a wonderful life and met many lifelong friends. Dick enjoyed his years as a woodworking teacher and head of the vocational department at Max Cameron Senior Secondary School. He retired after 33 years in the educational system. He was also an active member of the community who enjoyed giving his time to organizations such as Powell River Lions Club and Sea Cadets.

Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Fran, married for 57 years, his children and their families.

Benjamin “Ben” Thomas Pargeon, 1966 ~ 2011

Benjamin “Ben” Thomas Pargeon of Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away on June 29, 2011 at the age of 45 years. Ben leaves to cherish his memory his mother Virginia Pargeon, one brother Edmund, two sisters Peggy (Ronald) Viau and Catherine (Neil) Mitchell, four nephews Robert, Catlin, Lance and Dougal, and one niece Alysha.

"Gentle Ben" loved life. His niece and nephews held a great deal of importance to him. He loved his job at Lakeside Packers "rustling" cattle. Ben enjoyed being around women and children, and he had great respect for both. He was also well known for his ability to make up new words. Ben will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
