Luigi Pagani, August 12, 1929 – July 6, 2014
Our hearts ache as we announce the passing of Luigi Pagani. Those left remembering this remarkable man and his journey are his wife Rosa, children Roger (Sherry), Robert (Noelle) Sandra, grandchildren Cleaven (Alisha), Brandi, Chayla (Erik), Raeann, Rosalea, Dalton, great-grandchildren Mia, Eli, Zoey, Cooper, Evan and Nyah, siblings Albert (Edie), Ana Prosperi-Porta, Mary (Silvano) Nadalini, Delfina (Ed) Frausel and sister-in-law Tina Pagani.
Luigi leaves behind a true legacy. In 1950, at the young age of 20, Luigi and his father Agostino struck out in search of a better life.
They boarded a ship from Italy and arrived in Canada. Brother Albert joined them one year later, leaving behind their mother Maria, siblings Ana, Mary, Peter and Delfina. Onward they travelled to Vancouver, sponsored by Agostino’s brother Tony, where they worked to bring the family from Italy to Canada. Luigi worked in Vancouver at Paris Boots until he joined the rest of the family in Powell River in 1952. There, he continued his craft as a cobbler and began Pagani and Sons Shoes. In 1961, he married Rosa Briganti and began his family.
As we remember Luigi as a husband, father, grandfather, and “shoemaker”, we are reminded of 1 Corinthians 13: “Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs…It always protects, always loves, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.”
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.
Predeceased by father Agostino, mothers Angela and Maria, brother Peter and brother-in-law Giuseppe "Joe".
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the charity of your choice.
Prayers for Luigi will be held Friday July 11, at 7 pm at the Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian burial will be held at the church on Saturday, July 12, at 1 pm with reception to follow.
Steve Alex Lister
Steve passed away on June 28, 2014 in Powell River, at the age of 54. We are full of sorrow because we have lost him, but our hearts are full of a love for Steve that is much greater and stronger than sadness.
Steve was born in Powell River on March 16, 1960 to Joan and Robert (Al) Lister and grew up on Vancouver Island and in Powell River.
“Generous” is a word that describes Steve. He was generous in spirit and character. Not only was he good-natured, fun to be around, considerate and funny, but he also enjoyed and was also known for giving thoughtful gifts to those around him. Steve was also giving of his time and often offered to help people with projects or errands. This kindness was returned to him; many people in the community did special and considerate things for Steve.
In his working life, Steve possessed many skills and abilities and used them to work a variety of professions, including deckhand, chokerman, mechanic, forklift operator, masonry, courier and self-employed handyman. Steve had a multitude of interests and hobbies that added to his enjoyment of life, including repairing and riding motorcycles and performance cars, collecting, travelling, filming and editing videos, playing guitar, and amassing an absolutely amazing music collection. Steve really enjoyed spending time with family, friends and pets in his home, which was a place where everyone felt comfortable and welcome.
Steve is survived by his mother (Joan) and siblings Louise (Glenn), Lorraine (Barry), Phillip (Denise) and Carrie (Garnett) and was predeceased by his father (Al). Steve is also survived by his nieces and nephews who all adore and love him: Tina, Robin, Dana, Laura, Leah, Alana, Danielle, Stefan, as well as his great-nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Steve’s friends for helping and supporting him in his last years.
A service and celebration of life will be held on July 26, 2014, 1 pm at Stubberfield Funeral Home in Powell River.
Steve, we will all keep you forever in our hearts.
