Vito Massullo, October 16, 1925 - May 27, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear brother, Vito Massullo.
Vito was born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy and immigrated at the age of eight to Powell River on November 11, 1933. The "Little Bush Man" spent most of his life as a self-employed logger. He lived his whole life in Wildwood, spending the last five years in Olive Devaud Residence and lastly at Evergreen Extended Care Unit (ECU).
Vito was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Emilia, and by two infant siblings. He is survived by his sister Mary (Amedeo) Potesta and his brother Jim (Donelda). He is also survived by his five much loved nephews Allan (Christal), Tom (Nikki), Mike (Gaylene), Ron (Sondra), Brian (Yvonne) and great nephews and nieces Robbie, Meaghan, Kristin, Katelyn, Cameron, Brett, Meranda, Blair, Braedon and Karrissa.
Prayers will be held on Monday, June 4 at 7 pm from the Church of the Assumption and the funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 11 am. Entombment will take place on Wednesday, June 6 at 1 pm at Ocean View Mausoleum in Burnaby.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Schweitzer and all the nurses, caregivers and activity workers at Olive Devaud and ECU for the wonderful care and love shown to Vito over the years. Also a special thanks to our good friends Anita, George, Charlene and Pina for helping with Vito and many thanks to those who have sent flowers, cards, food and made donations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the Activity Office to The Resident Council at Evergreen Extended Care Unit, 4970 Joyce Avenue, Powell River, BC V8A 5P2.
