Barbara Ann Ball (née McRitchie), January 21, 1935 - June 4, 2014

We celebrate the life of our loving wife, sister, mom, aunt, grandma and great-grandma.

Barbara was the eldest child born to Kenneth and Elizabeth McRitchie of Vancouver, BC. She is survived by her husband Gerald Ball of Campbell River, who was at her side every day of her journey. She is also survived by her children and their spouses John and Chris Ball of Prince George, David and Doris Ball of Campbell River and Jo-Ann and Jim Murchie of Surrey. Barbara had six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Barbara grew up with her siblings Robert McRitchie of Abbotsford and Patty Shelton of Saanich in Vancouver, where they enjoyed days at Kitsilano Beach. In 1954, Barbara married her devoted husband Gerald and excitedly moved to Powell River, for job opportunities and to start their family. They enjoyed picnics, camping and backyard barbecues.

Barbara also became passionately involved in provincial politics, giving countless hours of support to her cause. Upon retirement in 1992, they moved to Campbell River, BC, to be near family, and enjoy gardening and walks through the forest and along the beach. Barbara loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was dearly loved, appreciated and respected by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In 2008, Barbara moved to New Horizons Care Home where she received the utmost love, affection and tender care. We are sincerely grateful to the staff for their years of compassion and dedication.

We are at peace knowing that she will join her beloved daughter Deidre Eileen in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of BC.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years Coree, beloved children Ann-Marie (Gord), Rob and Paul (Andree), cherished grandchildren Andy, Sheena (Zack), Jordan, Joel and Ethan, siblings Gordon, Doris and Debbie and a large extended family.

Bob was born March 23, 1941 in Cochrane, Ontario and grew up in South Porcupine where he formed many lifelong friendships. It was at the arena where he met the love of his life Coree and married her the following year. Bob was happily involved in local sports as a player, coach and executive. He took great pride in being able to coach and cheer on his kids and grandkids in the activities that they loved. After a successful career at the mill, Bob and Coree were able to expand their joy for travel and camping.
