Lawrence Frederick Gobbee, May 27, 1930 - June 5, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence. He leaves behind his beloved wife Louise, stepsons Virgil and Logan (Sheila), sisters Pat (Herman) and Phyllis (Don) and many other family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 14, at Powell River Cemetery at 2 pm, with dear friend Ray Sketchley officiating. A reception will follow at the Cranberry Seniors’ Centre, 6792 Cranberry Street.
Dawn McLean, January 5, 1962 - June 8, 2013
Dawn was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and passed away at the age of 51 in Powell River, BC. She worked at Vancouver Island University for 11 years teaching English and computer skills as well as running the writing centre. She was also chair of Adult Basic Education and truly enjoyed her job as instructor and helping her students.
Dawn is survived by her daughter Simone Kutz, son John Kutz, father Edward McLean, stepmother Diane McLean, sister Maureen (Rob) Mackey, stepsister Debbie (Chris) Lillies, nephew Callum, nieces Leah and Kaylee and her mother Shirley Neven.
A special thank you to doctors Hoffert and Bonsor and the nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Powell River General Hospital for their phenomenal care.
A celebration of Dawn’s life will take place on Saturday, June 15, at 1 pm at Evergreen Theatre. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Powell River Brain Injury Society.
Dawn will be remembered for her vibrant personality, sense of humour and passion for education.
