John Lachlan McArthur, January 31, 1946 - June 14, 2011
Predeceased by his parents Peter and Lillian. John is survived by two sisters, Linda (Bob) and Kathy (Brian), granddaughters Brittani and Brooke Von Schilling, nieces Trini and Linda, nephews Vincent and Darrin. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
Ilene Fairey 1933 - 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of Ilene announces her passing on June 5, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Don in 2005 and is survived by their children Jane (Norm), Donna (Barry), Candace (Tim), James (Pat), and Michael (Joan), 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Ilene and Don loved living in Powell River. Ilene was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed her garden. She missed her friends in Powell River when she moved to Edmonton to be near her family.
In her memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Stewart, November 1927 - June 2011
Mary Lou passed away in Surrey, BC on June 14, 2011 at the age of 83. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband Walter, she is survived by her family, son Gordon (Darcy), daughters Frances (Bill) and Barbara, and much loved granddaughters Stacey, Lindsay, Alison and Victoria.
Mary Lou was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba where she graduated as a registered nurse. She lived for many years in Powell River, BC where she was an active member of the United Church. She was an avid gardener, and as a weaver and potter, she was a member of the Powell River Fine Arts Association.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Johan Honyk, January 23, 1920 - June 14, 2011
Johan passed away peacefully at the Powell River General Hospital on June 14, 2011. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maria and is survived by son Johan Gerrit and his wife Mary-Ellen and daughter Freda Wolfe.
At his request no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital.
Ron Johnson, May 3, 1928 – June 20, 2011
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Jean, daughters Diana, Pat, Sue (Bob), sons Larry (Lil) and Warren, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, sisters Marian, Audrey and Irene, brother-in-laws Jack (Carol) and Lou, also many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by grandson Sandy Schreurs, granddaughter Rhonda Anderson, sister Peggy Walters and sister-in-law Bev Laughin.
There will be a memorial service held on Friday, June 24 at 1 pm from the chapel at Stubberfield Funeral Home, 7221 Duncan Street. Following the service a reception will be held at the Canadian Legion, Branch 164. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Olive Devaud Residence in Powell River in Ron’s name.
