Robert (Bob) Standal, June 25, 1937 - June 24, 2011
Bob died peacefully in Powell River General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Wanda, son Ken (Kerrie), his much loved granddaughter Gracie, daughter Laura (Vartan), sister Ruth Keddy (Gordie), niece Bev (Dan) Light and nephew Don (Laurie) Keddy. Predeceased by his parents and his brother Bill. Bob will be missed by his “coffee pals” and other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank Bob’s doctors, intensive care unit, Powell River General Hospital fourth floor nurses, and hospice ladies Grace and Kathy. No service by request. Please join the family for a reception Saturday, July 2 at 1:30 pm at Royal Canadian Legion branch 164 lower hall.
Umberto Tinaburri
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and nonno, Umberto Tinaburri. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He was a devoted husband of 61 years to Filomena, loving father to daughters Rina (Pasquale) Cappiello, Lisa (Jim) Maunders and Linda (Adrian) Mayenburg, beloved nonno to grandchildren Mark (Krista), Maria, Elaine, Craig (Chantal), Andrea (Mike), Angela and Stuart, and great-grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Janessa, Kyle and Ayden.
Umberto was born July 4, 1928 in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy and passed away surrounded by loving family and friends on June 26, 2011 in Powell River, BC. He was a wonderful man, compassionate, inquisitive and full of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 6 pm with mass of Christian burial on Thursday, June 30 at 1 pm at the Church of the Assumption. Reception will follow at the Italian Community Hall, 5866 Lund Street, Powell River. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Umberto’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Powell River General Hospital Foundation.
Jesse Dean Blaikie-Nadalini, January 27, 1989 - June 18, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Jesse. He is survived by his mother Wendy Blaikie, father Rick Nadalini, partner Carley Marshall, brothers Tyler and Jaxyn, grandparents Lynn Pulkrabek and Mary and Silvano Nadalini, stepbrothers Shawn and Nick Benak, aunts Lisa and Diane, uncles Lee, Darran, Dennis, and Frank, cousins Sarah, Tore, Sean and Maria, Carley’s parents Tara and Scott and her brother Taylor, his dear friends Jesse M, Jaime, and Ross, a large extended family, and close, wonderful friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his Papa Gary Pulkrabek and his Nonno “Tino” Pagani.
Jesse attended elementary school in Powell River and moved to Port Moody where he graduated from Gleneagle Secondary School. He excelled in many athletic activities: soccer, baseball, rugby. He loved skateboarding, snowboarding and dirt-biking. He was mostly known for lighting up any room with his beautiful smile and open heart. In 2010 Jesse graduated with honours from the dual credit welding trade program, sponsored jointly by School District 47 and Vancouver Island University. He has been employed by LaFarge Texada as a tradesman welder. He was recently certified to be a member of the Mine Rescue Team and was planning to continue to broaden his training in this field.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jesse Blaikie-Nadalini Memorial Trade Scholarship Fund at the First Credit Union, Powell River Branch. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on July 2 at the Westview Baptist Church, 3676 Joyce Avenue in Powell River, BC, followed by a celebration of life at the Italian Community Hall, 5866 Lund Street, Powell River, BC.
