Dennis “Denny” William Burnett
Sadly we announce the passing of Denny on March 11, 2011, of pneumonia in Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria. He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Kay and son John, October 9, 1987. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Louise, son Bob of Toronto, sister Mary (Denton) of Victoria, brother Bill (Nicole) of Parksville, brother-in-law Ted (Lonie) of Merritt, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Denny was born in Prince Rupert, February 17, 1936, and grew up in Victoria and Vancouver. He and Louise moved to Powell River in 1961. He spent all of his working years in the automotive, industrial, and marine businesses, and for 16 years operated his own auto parts store in Powell River. In 1998, Denny accepted a position with Philbrook's Boat Yard in Sidney, where he made many new friends. From a young age, he enjoyed fly fishing in the interior lakes and rivers with his dad, and later took many fishing trips up the BC coast. He was a music lover, hockey and football fan, avid golfer and bowler, and was always ready for a game of crib. Denny and Louise had two wonderful trips to England and Scotland searching out family roots, and even discovered “Burnett's Castle.”
Denny was well respected by all who knew him and devoted to his family as they were to him. He kept his sense of humour to the end, and will be sorely missed.
His remains will be placed beside his son John, in Powell River. Open house to be held at #3-9903 Resthaven Drive, Sidney, on Sunday, March 20, 2 – 4 pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Powell River.
We give heartfelt thanks to Dr. James and all the doctors and nurses at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.

She lived her life simply and pure in Powell River, enjoying knitting, crafts and whatever she could grow in her gardens. Predeceased by her sister Lilly Martens in 2002, she is survived by her husband Bob, sister Ruby Lewis and her family. Missing her are her children Thelma (Dave) Parker, Jeannie (Les), Dave (Cindy) and Fred (Cathy). One of her greatest pleasures were her grandchildren Rob, Brian and Bonnie Parker, Mark and Tammy Ralko, Angela and Melanie Stutt and Erin and Trevor Stutt.
