We are saddened to announce the passing of Anne Johnson on February 22, 2011. A celebration of life will be held for Anne on Saturday, March 26 anytime after noon, at her home in Wildwood, 6464 Hillcrest Avenue. Lunch will be served. All are welcome to join us.


Barber Dave

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Jamieson “Barber Dave.” There will be a celebration of his life and friendship Sunday, March 27 at Cranberry Seniors’ Centre at 2 pm. Joan Iris Chapell, January 31, 1926 - March 15, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce Mum passed away peacefully on March 15 at the age of 85. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Bob in 2001, she is survived by her daughters Jean (Wayne) Culos, Chris (Lee) Koleszar, grandchildren Rob (Danielle) and Brent Culos and her many loving nieces and nephews here and abroad. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Du Toit for his compassion and respect as her physician, to home support for the years of care at Oak Street, to Olive Devaud Residence staff for their loving care over the past few months and to family and friends for their thoughtfulness and support. Margaret Konopelski, July 2, 1929 – March 20, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Konopelski. She was predeceased by her brother Rae. She is survived by loving husband of 58 years Joseph, sons Garry and Terry (Christine), daughters Lynda (Murray) and Laurie (Bruce), eight grandchildren and one great-grandson, brother Jack and sister Carol and also many nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret was well known throughout the community as both a Brownie leader and a long-standing member of the Rebekah Lodge. She will be truly missed.

There will be a celebration of life held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 2 pm at Stubberfield Chapel, 7221 Duncan Street. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a children’s hospital of your choice. If you wish to express your condolences, please visit the website.

Johnathan is survived by Ken, Gay, Graham, Ross and son Conrad John. He also leaves to mourn many family members and friends. A memorial service was held at the Sliammon Salish Centre on February 28, 2011. We would like to thank the community for their support and my PRACL co-workers.

Wanda Astells, July 26, 1947 - March 16, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Astells. She is survived by loving partner Roy Gladue, children Vicki (Bob), Rob and Brandon, grandchildren Raymond, Matthew, Emily and Jacob, brother Bob Verdiel, nephews Mike and Gary Verdiel, nieces Sherry Ruedig and Debbi (Randy) Salmond. Also survived by Terry Astells.

Wanda was well known in the Powell River community. She worked with Powell River Association for Community Living for many years. She will be dearly missed by all.
