Marguerite Salmond (née Hogg), 1933 - 2014

Marguerite passed quietly in her sleep on the night of February 24 at Olive Devaud Residence in Powell River, BC. She was 80 years old.

Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, at the age of 18 Marguerite moved to Powell River, which soon became her adopted hometown. Here she married, raised her family and spent the remainder of her long and active life.

A superb cook and duplicate bridge player, an avid garage sale enthusiast and lover of camping, travel, reading and animals, her family and many friends will remember Marguerite for her quick wit, feisty temperament and love of laughter.

Marguerite is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years Lorne, her children Randolph, Laurie and Daniel, her 12 grandchildren and her 10 great-grandchildren.

A wonderful wife and mother, she was loved, is missed terribly and will never be forgotten.

Donald Arthur Dunn, July 10, 1944 - March 1, 2014

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Don at home surrounded by his family. He will be remembered by his loving wife Bev, his two sons Thomas (Jennifer) and Richard (Laurie), grandchildren Lance, Lindsay and Sloane and his two sisters Lois Cummings and Joan (Bob) Astrope, as well as a large extended family.

Community and family were very important to him and he proudly served on the Malaspina Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years, the last 16 years as their Fire Chief.

Thank you to Dr. Du Toit, Powell River General Hospital oncology unit, home care nurses and hospital staff for their excellent care. A special thanks to all our friends and family; the comfort received was endless.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, or the charity of your choice.

A celebration of life will be held at Carlson Community Club, Saturday, March 8 from 2 to 4 pm.
