Anna Mae Perry (née Richard)
On March 2, 2012, Anna Mae Perry of Courtenay, BC, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox after a brief illness.
She was born on October 4, 1919 in Palmer Road, PEI, to Benoit Richard and Eveline Bernard. Mae grew up in the nearby village of Tignish, PEI. She later moved to Summerside, PEI, where she met and married Ralph Arsenault. Later, in 1949, Mae moved to Powell River, BC, where she married Camille Perry. Finally in 1994 she moved to Courtenay to be closer to her sister Sereine.
She was predeceased by her mother Eveline in 1923, her father Benoit who died in the Prince Edward Island train wreck of 1932, her husband Ralph who died during the 1944 invasion of Normandy, and her second husband Camille in September 1986. She was also predeceased by her siblings Delima, Henry, Pearl and Don.
She is survived by her loving sons Jim (Ruth) Arsenault of Toronto, Ontario, and Bob (Willie) Perry of Powell River, her sister Sereine Caudwell of Comox, BC, grandchildren Steve, Rick, Aron, Marti, Trevor and greatgrandchildren Sara-Mae, Clarity, Keith, Taryn, Rachel, Ethan, Jack and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by her good friend and roommate Noni Jenner.
She was a truly loving and caring person who cared for those around her more than for herself. At her request, there will be no service and in lieu of flowers the family requests that people donate to St. Joseph's General Hospital ECU Special Activity Fund c/o 2137 Comox Avenue, Comox, BC, V9M 1P2.
Evelyn Stewart Black
The family of Evelyn Black is sad to announce her passing in Victoria, BC on March 4, 2012. She was born April 27, 1911 on the Isle of Bute in Scotland, the only daughter of Henry and Agnes Hill. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ross, second husband Kent Goldsmith and brother Tony. She is survived by her sons David (Wendy), Peter and Ian (Judi), granddaughters Dawn, Terri and Cheri and six greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 12 at 2 pm in St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church, 6310 Sycamore Street, Powell River. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to Powell River Health Care Auxiliary, 5000 Joyce Avenue, Powell River, BC V8A 5R3.
Gladys Mason, August 4, 1930 - March 3, 2012
It is with heartfelt sadness and many wonderful memories that the family of Gladys Marguerite Janet Mason announce her peaceful passing at home with her loving husband and children by her side. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years Leonard Mason, brothers Bob Moore, Gary (Mary) Koivu, Bill (Joanne) Christiansen, her children Bette Bayly, Rick (Jackie) Mason, Sharon (Chester) Wilson, Wendy (Mark) Budgell, Donna (Ian) McKenzie, Shirley (Joe) Budgell, Cathy (Dwayne) Swanson, Jackie (Brent) McClinchey, 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 10 at 1 pm at Stubberfield Funeral Home with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Ernest Albert Silvester, June 1, 1923 - March 7, 2012
Ernie passed away peacefully with his family nearby. He was born in Powell River and lived here all his life except for a short period when he served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. He took an apprenticeship as a pipe-fitter with the Powell River Company and worked in the mill for 42 years.
He met the love of his life Agnes, and they spent 65 happy years together. He was predeceased by his brother George, sister Edith and wife Agnes. Left to mourn are their children Bill (Angela), Don (Penny), Christine (Bill), Bob (Dot), Dave (Jackie), Joanne, Ernie (Kim) and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law Bill (Mary), Walter (Bea) and sisters-in-law Isobel, Margaret (George) and nieces and nephews.
Dad was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, president and director of the Sunset Homes Society (Olive Devaud Residence) and in his younger days had been a member of the Powell River Pipe Band and a volunteer fireman.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 16 at 1 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164.
