Martin Berhens Claussen, May 3, 1945 - May 10, 2015
In 1974 Martin found the knowledge of God and began to enjoy in abundance God’s grace and peace. By God’s own glory and goodness His divine power gave Martin everything he needed for life and godliness.
Martin enjoyed the Lord’s very great and precious promises, and through them experienced the divine attributes of his Lord and Saviour. He made every effort to add to his faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. In his life he possessed these qualities in increasing measure and they made him effective and productive in His knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Martin took delight from being cleansed from his past sins. He has received a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
A deep loss is felt by his bride, Audrey, of 45 years. Martin was an important and caring Dad of three including their families: Sandra (Lorne) with Adam, Mackenzie and Taylor; Steven with Jesse, Matthew, Parker and Breanna; Mark (Jodi) with Faith and Keegan, making him a proud and loving “Papa” to nine grandchildren. Martin is also survived by 11 brothers and sisters.
We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. As a family we extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Martin Andreae and the team of nurses at Powell River General Hospital.
A causal celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 14 at 11 am at Evangel Pentecostal Church.
Della Lynn Vogl, April 3, 1954 – May 5, 2015
Too young, Della has left us. She is survived by her mother June Vogl of Powell River, her sister Karen Pinton (Thomas) of White Rock, niece Ryley Pinton, stepnephew Matthew Pinton (Krystal) and great-grandnephew Carter. Della is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and oh so many friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Bud Vogl, in 1998. Della was born in Rossland, BC and three months later moved to Powell River where she grew up and graduated from Max Cameron Secondary School in 1971. She moved to Victoria for two years, then travelled abroad for one year after which she moved to Vancouver and earned her diploma as a Food Service Supervisor. Della worked in three different hospitals before settling into her career at Burnaby Hospital where she was recognized for 30 years of service. Della loved to travel and managed to see most of this world. She also enjoyed her outings with the Purple Pumps of the Red Hat Society. Her positive outlook was amazing considering the progression of a debilitating neuromuscular disease.
As Della did not want a formal service, a celebration of her life will be held Friday, May 15 from 2 - 5 pm at 14909 32nd Avenue, South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Della’s name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1404 West Broadway, 7th Floor, Vancouver, BC, V6H 1H6.
Lawrence Randal Nazar, July 27, 1953 – May 2, 2015
Lawrence died in his home on Saturday, May 2 from cancer. He is survived by his daughter Rekha (Sister Mary Gianna), his brother Steven (Margaret Calder) Nazar and niece Holly. He was predeceased by his parents Steve and Edna Nazar.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Lawrence travelled to BC with his family on holidays and as a teen he left home to work in the Interior. His family moved to Okeover Inlet in the early 1970s when they retired. He and his brother regularly visited and Lawrence built a small cabin on the land. Over the years, he spent time at the Himalayan Institute in Pennsylvania, studied Karate and taught English in Japan, and worked in the trades throughout Alberta, BC, and New Jersey before settling in Okeover with his family. Lawrence was a hard worker, a kind and generous man who was well known for helping out his friends in time of need and was frequently spotted at Nancy’s Bakery and in the community of Lund.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 3 pm at the Lund Gazebo with a community potluck to follow. His caregiver team would especially like to thank Dr. Schweitzer, Dr. Hoffert, Home Care Nursing and Support Workers and the Medicine Shoppe.
Bridget Patricia Bigold (née Savage), March 28,1952 – May 6, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bridget’s passing after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home on a sunny morning with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband Dennis, children Rachelle (Peter), Jacqueline (Spencer) and Brent (Sarah), grandson Jacob and two soon-to-be born granddaughters. She leaves behind her sisters Cecilia and Rose Anne (Bryant), their families and a large extended family that includes friends, her school “family,” church “family,” and students spanning over 30 years. She was a truly remarkable woman who touched many.
A most gracious thank you to all the amazing people who have provided support over the past two months. For the meals, flowers, prayers and everything offered—we are most grateful. Thank you to Father Tepoorten and Father Dass for their spiritual support, to Dr. Burns for his care and compassion and to Dr. Hoffert, Janet, Sarah and the Oncology Unit staff at Powell River General Hospital who provided support and comfort over her battle. Thank you does not seem enough.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Powell River General Hospital Oncology Unit in Bridget’s memory.
