Bruce Ivan Pellatt, January 28, 1921 - March 24, 2014
Bruce is survived by his loving daughter Mary Anne Pellatt, who cared for him for the last 10 years, and her husband Eugene Krauss.
He will always be remembered by his grandson Jacob Krauss and Jacob’s wife Jamie.
Karl (Charlie) Leonard Nelson
Charlie was born October 18, 1931 in Powell River. He is survived by his wife Betty, sons Gary and Doug, daughter Brenda, sisters Anna and Magda and was predeceased by his brother Knut.
A true local boy, Charlie spent his entire life in Powell River. He had a 47-year career at the Powell River paper mill, retiring as paper machine supervisor. A life-long golfer, Charlie was a member of both the original Townsite and Myrtle Point golf clubs. On Saturday, May 3, 2014 the big golf course in the sky quietly called Charlie for his final tee time.
Charlie didn't want a service, but friends and former coworkers are asked to play 18 or hoist a beer in his honour.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
Dad, may your drives be long and your putts be straight.
Barbara Rennie 1922 - 2014
Barbara passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Harrison Building, Elim Village, in Surrey, BC. She was predeceased by her husband George, and is survived by her daughter Janet (Gary) of Delta, sons David (Beverly) of Lillooet and Peter (Silvana) of Kamloops, sister Eileen of Kelowna, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara grew up in the Okanagan but lived most of her married life in Powell River where she taught for many years and raised her family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful third floor staff at the Harrison Building for the love and care given to mom over the last few years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, at 1 pm, at the Oasis Building, Elim Village, 9008-158 Street, Surrey.
Barbara Joan Erb, June 9, 1934 - May 3, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Barbara. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, her four children Gail Bryn-Jones, Evan (Melissa) Bryn-Jones, Laura (Colin) Bryn-Jones and Megan Bryn-Jones and her six grandchildren Helena, Arlo, Alexander, Owen, Hannah and Isabella. She is also survived by sister Janet Loughlean and brother Robert Miller.
Barbara was an operating room nurse for 41 years and always loved her work. When she came to Powell River almost eight years ago, she spent much time volunteering at Powell River Stroke Recovery Club as well as at the church where she worshipped.
The family extends a big thanks to Dr. Barrie McDonald and the fourth floor nursing staff at Powell River General Hospital.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 3 pm at Powell River United Church, 6932 Crofton Street. No flowers by request.
Anora (Mary) Chapman, May 29, 1924 - April 30, 2014
Anora was born in Winnipeg and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II, marrying Vince in 1945. They moved to Vancouver in 1948, then to Powell River in 1949.
Anora is survived by her husband Vincent of 68 and a half years, two daughters Catherine and Dianne (Bill) of Powell River, one son Doug (Agness) of Campbell River, four grandchildren and two great-grand children.
Music was an important part of Anora’s life and she was one of the original members of Powell River Choral Society, which is now Powell River Chorus. Her last public performance with the chorus was the Christmas concert. She played pipes with the Clansman Pipe Band and flute and oboe with the Community Band in the past.
Anora volunteered for Victim Witness Unit and COPs (Citizens on Patrol) and was active in Order of the Eastern Star and Rebeccah lodges in the past. She also enjoyed curling and lawn bowling in her younger years.
The family would like to thank Dr. Schweitzer and Powell River General Hospital fourth floor staff for their gentle care of Anora in her final days.
Anora’s kind and generous nature will be missed by her family and friends.
