Edward Donald Marchand, May 14, 1944 - November 3, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce Ed’s passing on November 3 at the age of 67 after fighting a  long battle with cancer. He showed such courage and was not yet ready to leave, reminding us all the preciousness of life. He took great pride in his family. His daughters were the apple of his eye, his son was his best friend, and he adored his eight grandchildren.

For 38 years he gave a great deal of time, energy, and dedication to running his autobody business, King’s Collision. Throughout his life Ed has touched the lives of many in one way or another. He valued all of his friendships. He especially treasured childhood and long-time friends Ron and Allan and the memories they shared. Ed had a special place in his heart for family friend Merle. Her presence, thoughtfulness, and generosity has been appreciated.

Ed very much enjoyed family holidays, time spent fishing on Powell Lake, and hunting up north. Ed will be remembered by Gail, his devoted wife of 46 years, brother Brian, daughters Kim (Marshall) Hrynyk, Debbie (Keith) Luff, son Mike (Gaby), and grandchildren Bruce, Dustin, Larissa, Brandon, Kyle, Courtney, and the two very young ones Sofia and Matthew. It broke his heart knowing he would not be able to watch them all grow up and choose their paths in life.

The family would like to invite all those who knew Ed to join them for a celebration of life to be held on Saturday, November 12 at 1 pm in the Evergreen Theatre, followed by a reception in the Arbutus Room at Powell River Recreation Complex.

If desired, and in lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated if donations in Ed’s memory be made to the BC Cancer Foundation (Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Research), 150-686 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1. www.bccancerfoundation.com.
