We sadly announce the passing of Sharon Lee Jackson on November 19, 2011, at Powell River General Hospital. An obituary with service announcement will be placed in the Peak next week.
Heather Ann Swanson, February 26, 1955 - November 20, 2011
Heather passed away after a long battle with cancer with her loving family at her side. She leaves behind her mother Kathleen Rivest, father Gerald Swanson, stepfather Real Rivest, brother Barry, children David and Maenyn, and the children’s father, Walter Forsyth.
She was born in Vancouver but lived in Powell River and went to school here. She then moved to Victoria, BC, and lived there for many years. Heather passed away at Royal Jubilee Hospital. A service will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 2 pm at the St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Janice Beverly Warman (née McKinnon)
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to an amazing wife, mother, sister, Nana, daughter and friend.
Janice was born on December 7, 1952 in Scarborough, Ontario and moved to Powell River in 1978 where she met and married her best friend, Rod. Together they raised their four wonderful children and shared many adventures. Janice had unlimited patience, strength, courage and understanding. After living with MS for many years, she passed away peacefully on November 22, 2011.
Left to remember her are loving husband Rod, children Rachelle (Jurg), Bob (Lindsay), Jamie (Rachelle), Sarin (Jason) and grandchildren Olivia, Anika, Sarah, Yannick and Elliott.
A service will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 11 am at Powell River United Church, 4440 Michigan Ave. In lieu of flowers donations to the local food bank would be greatly appreciated.
Herbert Heinrich Zimmer, September 21, 1927 - November 9, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father and Opa. Herbert was predeceased by his beloved wife Sheila and his parents at an early age. He leaves behind daughters Mary (Karl), Jennifer (Kent), Karen (Jonathan) and grandchildren Katelyn, Meagan, Daniel, Blake, Bo, Joel, Johnny and family in Germany.
Herbert was raised in Karlsruhe, Germany where he learned at an early age to persevere through difficult times. He found great joy playing soccer for his city team. In 1951 Herbert moved to Canada and eventually settled in Powell River where he met and married the love of his life Sheila in 1965. Herbert and Sheila established Powell River Nursery which allowed them to share their love of gardening with the community.
Herbert was a loving husband, father and Opa as well as a great friend to many. Herbert’s passion, humour and wisdom will always be remembered lovingly and above all his certainty in his faith in God.
A service will be held to honour Herbert’s life on Saturday, November 26 at 11 am at Evangel Pentecostal Church with a reception to follow.
