Roberta Jean Ross (née Aitken), March 23, 1933 - November 22, 2011 Born in Chilliwack, BC. Beloved wife of Thomas. Devoted mother to Kathy (Randy), Valerie (Jack) and Scott (Leslie). Grandmother of Langley, Shawn, Krista and Katie.

Roberta Jean Ross (née Aitken), March 23, 1933 - November 22, 2011

Beloved wife of Thomas.

Devoted mother to Kathy (Randy), Valerie (Jack) and Scott (Leslie).

Grandmother of Langley, Shawn, Krista and Katie.

Great-grandmother of Ty and Trenton.

Roberta was a registered nurse and dedicated volunteer throughout her lifetime.

We welcome all to a celebration of life on Tuesday, December 20 from noon - 4 pm at Cranberry Seniors’ Centre.

In lieu of flowers the family requests anyone wishing to do so to make a donation to the oncology unit of Powell River General Hospital.


Heather Ann Swanson, February 26, 1955 - November 20, 2011

Heather passed away after a long battle with cancer with her loving family at her side. She leaves behind her mother Kathleen Rivest, father Gerald Swanson, stepfather Real Rivest, brother Barry, children David and Maenyn, and the children’s father, Walter Forsyth.

She was born in Vancouver but lived in Powell River and went to school here. She then moved to Victoria, BC, and lived there for many years. Heather passed away at Royal Jubilee Hospital.

A service will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 2 pm at the St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church. A luncheon will follow at the church.


Barry Ford

Barry was born on January 30, 1928 in Vancouver, BC and passed away peacefully on November 19, 2011 with his beloved family at his side. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan; his children Rick (Mary), Anne (Herb) and Lesley; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren as well as many dear friends.

Barry moved to Powell River at an early age. It is there that he met the love of his life and raised his family. A true gentleman, Barry was kind, caring and will lovingly be remembered for his generosity and devotion to family. He loved to travel and he and Joan have many cherished memories of the far off places they have been together.

In his memory a private family gathering will be held. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence or fond memory at the family’s online obituary.

Barbara Rorison, September 5, 1920 - November 23, 2011

The Angels came to greet Mom as she passed away peacefully with family at her side. Mom is survived by her sons Jon (Patty) Hummel, Don (Reesha) Rorison, daughter Laurie (Rodger) Lee, 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Mom was born in Armstrong, BC and lovingly raised her family in Vancouver, Gibsons and Powell River. She enjoyed carving, crafting, gardening, and nurturing her grandchildren and pets.

The family expresses our gratitude to the Olive Devaud staff and Dr. MacDonald for their compassionate treatment of our mother and Nana. The family will have a private celebration of life for Barbara. Donations to the SPCA in Mom's memory are appreciated.

Sharon Lee Jackson, June 15, 1944 - November 19, 2011

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom/wife/sister/nana/ friend – Sharon Lee Jackson (née Marshall) on November 19, 2011.

She showed great strength and courage right through to her final breath. Sharon was well known in the community for her 33 years of incredible service through H&R Block as well as for her wonderful sense of humour and generosity. She touched many lives and valued all her friendships. She will be greatly missed.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband Bud, her sons Brandon (Julia) and Tony (Tracy), stepsons Tony and Gary (Chantale), stepdaughter Debra (Dana), sisters Pat, Peggy, Linda, Wendy and brothers James (Joanne) and Gordon (Kathleen) and her treasured friend Renee Rose. Sharon loved her grandchildren Nevan, Jennifer, Brittany, Sean, Miranda, Chelsea, Nicole, Cody, Rene, Dallas and Riley as well as her great-grandchildren Devin, Ethan, Vanessa and Brielle. Sharon was predeceased by her brother David and her sister Carole.

The family would like to invite all those who knew Sharon to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 10 at 1:30 pm at Westview Baptist Church. Reception to follow.
