Jacobus Johannes van Zwietering (Jack)
Jack passed away in Courtenay on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the age of 91. He is survived by his son Jack (Alice) van Zwietering, daughter Ann (Dirk) Stroomer, daughter Jane (Terry) Boulanger, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jack was born in Bovenkerk, Netherlands, on August 30, 1921. He became a Canadian citizen on November 23, 1959. He worked for School District 47 creating our school fields, landscaping and playgrounds many of us have enjoyed over the years and still do today.
Dad loved to fish, reminiscing old fish stories over a cold beer or glass of wine. Dad enjoyed his garden, sharing his flowers and vegetables with family, friends and neighbours and spent most of his retired years in the Comox Valley. Dad lived his life to the fullest and passed away peacefully of old age.
Always loved and remembered.
Arrangements entrusted to Comox Valley Funeral Home, Courtenay, 1.250.334.0707.

Mary Ellen Ferrier, October 21, 1937 - October 28, 2012
The world lost an angel with the passing of Mary Ellen Ferrier. She was the beloved wife and life partner to David Lyle Ferrier, daughter of Mary McGuire, sister to Bob, Beatrice and Darrel . She is survived by her husband Dave, seven children, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren (to date) and several nieces, nephews and extended loved ones. Mary was predeceased by her mother, brother and one daughter, Sandra Ellen, and now she has gone home to rejoin them.
Mom was loved beyond words. If you ever walked with her you walked with an angel. She chose to leave in Autumn, the season of her birth, the season she loved most, and now, the season she went home. Her infinitely patient nature was legendary and it allowed all of us the time we needed to say our separate goodbyes. Above all, Mom was a true lady, and a lady always knows when it’s time to leave.
So, until we see you again, Mom, we will lay you to rest in Kootenay Lake, but you will live in all our hearts forever. We miss you. xoxo
Peter Bohn, January 30, 1923 - October 26, 2012
With tears and hurting hearts, we announce the passing of Peter Bohn of Kelowna, BC. Married 65 years to his wife Anna, he is also survived by daughters Judy (Phillip) Meier of Kelowna, Donna Bohn of Calgary, Debbie (Paul) Galinski of Powell River and son James Bohn of Kelowna.
A loving papa and great-grandfather, he treasured the babies as they came. Hardworking, fun loving and a spiritual man, Peter touched people's lives with his kindness and integrity. Peter had a strong connection to the earth, having been an orchardist for decades. He was an ardent and productive gardener to the last. He also loved the water and was an avid fisherman for most of his life.
During bouts of illness and hospitalization, he was always considerate and so thankful of his caregivers. Held by his wife, Peter thanked her for staying up with him as he passed.
With his staunch, unshakable Christian faith, Peter is now in a better place, leaving behind so many loved ones who are at peace knowing he is not suffering.
Special thanks and gratitude is owed to the prayer chain at St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church in Townsite. Members of the chain lifted up Peter in intercession for months during the lengthy illness leading to his passing.
Peter’s funeral was held on October 30, in Kelowna, at Immaculate Conception Church.
Memories are treasured even more now and time will ease the pain.
