Hilary Bruhn, October 29, 1953 - October 3, 2012
She of the shining soul has left us
And now her brilliance grows,
Unfettered, free to spread her love,
her joy, her kind, kind heart...
Ever so quietly, ever so gently
She awed us all
Come all ye who called her friend
Come and help us celebrate
In tears and laughter and memory
The passing of this gentle, shining soul
A Gathering For Hilary

Richard C. Bledsoe, September 1941 - September 27, 2012
A son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, colleague, volunteer and friend, Richard was born and raised in Powell River.
After graduating from University of BC, with degrees in commerce and law, Richard spent much of his adult life living and working in Nanaimo, BC. He was equal parts intellect and artist. He loved his family, the ocean, music, carving, history and the written word. His family loved him, unconditionally and absolutely.
He is survived by his sister Landi, his children Jillian, Alison and Mitchell, his granddaughters Katelyn and Elise, his great-grandson Cooper, and Judi. He will be remembered and missed by family and friends alike; however, at his request, there is no service.
Isn't it strange that Captains and Kings,
and Clowns that caper in the sawdust rings,
and common folks like you and me
are builders for eternity?
To each is given a bag of tools,
a shapeless mass, a book of rules.
And each must make, ere life has flown,
a stumbling block or a stepping stone.
R.L. Sharpe, 1890
