Diane Jean DeWynter (née Bergunder) February 22, 1945 - October 10, 2011

Diane was born in Vancouver, BC and leaves us peacefully after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband and best friend Larry of 49 years, her children Michael (Wendy) and Brenda  (Marc) her brothers Larry Bergunder, Ken and Jim Menzies and their spouses and her granddaughters  Mackenzie and Anna.

Diane was an athlete, a figure skater, a highland dancer and known during her school days as "dianamite." She met Larry DeWynter and married in 1962. She enjoyed living and working in Powell River, retiring from Powell River General Hospital after 20 years. Diane enjoyed times in Mexico with Larry and friends; Larry affectionately called her Sal.

Diane's life was filled with adventure. She loved the outdoors; boating and fishing, riding her quad, picking mushrooms and salal but most of all she enjoyed her time with her family.

A tea celebrating Diane DeWynter’s life will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 1 - 4 pm at #23 - 6271 McAndrew Street. Family and friends are welcome to attend. No service by request. The family respectfully requests a donation to the Powell River Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Powell River General Hospital and the oncology clinics.

Take gentle care; we will miss you, you are in our thoughts forever.
