George Edward (Ted) Forshner, December 20, 1946 - October 14, 2012
Ted was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan by his mother Helene Forshner and grandparents George and Ina Hills, who have all predeceased him. He came to Powell River in 1970 with his wife and infant son. He later had two more sons. Ted worked in the Powell River mill until his retirement. In his younger years he enjoyed camping with his family at Haslam Lake. He was very involved with CB radios during that era, and in later years he got into building and flying radio-controlled planes. He was actively involved with the genealogy club until his death, and was instumental in getting all the records computerized.
Ted is survived and will be missed by his three sons, Trevor of Port Coquitlam, Travis of Powell River and Troy of Calgary as well as three grandchildren, Christipher and Cassandra of Port Coquitlam and Georgina of Powell River. Ted will also be missed by his ex-wife and lifelong friend Sandy Graham of Powell River. In the last few years Ted made contact with his extended family of half brothers and sisters from Saskatchewan whom he was in constant contact with via the Internet.
Ted fought his last battle with lung problems and left us peacefully after a few days in a coma. He is now at rest. We will all miss him.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Powell River Stroke Recovery Club would be appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 1:30 pm at Stubberfield Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Stubberfield Funeral Home Ltd.
