Alex Simonok, March 13, 1920 - October 21, 2011

Alex passed away peacefully on October 21, 2011 in Victoria, BC. He was born in Nadwirna, Poland on March 13, 1920. He was predeceased by his wife Christine (Carol) in 1990. He is lovingly remembered by his children Alex (Lisa) and Nanette (Mark); grandchildren Colin, Cathryn and Emma-Sophia.

Having escaped from a POW Camp and surviving WWII, Alex emigrated to Britain, where he met his wife Carol. Together with their two children, they came to Canada and finally settled in Powell River. Alex worked at MacMillan Bloedel as a millwright until his retirement in 1985. Alex was a devoted family man  and his children and grandchildren were the love of his life.

Interment and graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, at 12:30 pm at Powell River Regional Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family through the funeral home

Iride Pagani (née Battisti), September 28, 1921 - October 23, 2011

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Iride Pagani, mom, nona, grandnona. Iride was born in Carpineto, Romano. She has gone to be with Francesco, her husband of 64 years. Iride will be sadly  missed by her children: Alfonsa (Larry) Rumming, Dina Drummond, Nellie (Gord) Donas, Luisa Cullen,  Massimo (Monica) Pagani; grandchildren Nyla, Jaclyn, Andrea, Bailey, Riley, Brant, Jeremy, Marisa,  Dominic, Frances-Mae; great-grandchildren Brea and Ella; brothers Gulio and Elvezio in Italy, sister  Amedea in Powell River, brother-in-law Jack in Powell River, sisters-in-law Maria in Powell River and  Fiorina in Italy and numerous nieces and nephews. Iride was predeceased by her infant son Ludovico and son-in-law Gary Cullen.

Iride had a full and happy life and her main loves were her family and home. Her fabulous Italian cooking  and recipes, love of nature and generous heart for family, friends and especially children will be greatly  missed and never forgotten.

The family wishes to thank Dr. McDonald and all who gave their loving compassionate care to our mother. Prayers will be held on Friday, October 28 at 6:30 pm at the Church of the Assumption. Funeral services  will be held on October 29 at 1:30 pm at the Church of the Assumption. Interment to follow at Cranberry  Cemetery. Tea to follow at St. Joseph’s Hall.


Margaret Ann Lawson, May 13, 1933 - October 18, 2011

Margaret quietly passed away with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Glen (Sherry), Ann, Heather (Scott), Carl (Joanne), Iris (Dave), Sandra (Dave) and grandchildren Ryan (Dale), Travis (Michelle), Kaitlyn (Jason), Scott, Nicky (Lyndon), Bobby (Niki), Shannon (Daryl), Shawn,  Troy (Jessica), Trevor (Roxanne), Karl, Britney and 10 greatgrandchildren. Margaret will also be missed by numerous other family members and friends.
