Pat was a selfless, hard-working family man, respected and liked by those who knew him. He was a devoted husband and best friend to Mary-Leigh, married for 37 years as of September 4, 2013 and the only son of Jack and Emilia, beloved father of Jordan (Jocelyn) and Darren and grandfather to Tanner and twins Ayla and Autumn.

No service by request. Memorial donations may be made to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Stanley R. Harvey, October 27, 1916 - September 5, 2013

Stan passed away in the early morning of September 5 at the age of 96. He is survived by his three children Lorna Harvey of Vancouver, Ellen Eckstrand of Victoria, David of Powell River and his three granddaughters.

Stan was born in Tavistock, Devonshire, England and came to Canada at the age of nine. He married Margaret Crump in Vancouver on October 4, 1941 and moved to Powell River after the war. He was a member of the Canadian Navy during the war and worked in the steam plant at the mill retiring in 1981.

His family wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Evergreen Extended Care Unit and Powell River General Hospital.

Please join the family at a memorial on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1 pm at the Parish of St. David and St. Paul Anglican Church, 6310 Sycamore Street, Powell River.


Violet Molly Dubé (née Forrest), September 13, 1932 - September 7, 2013

Violet passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in New Westminister, BC and was predeceased by her husband Jerry Dubé, parents Molly and Eric Forrest, brothers Chuck and Ralph Forrest and her son Mark Dubé.

Violet is survived by her children Norm (Betty Lou), Jerrene (Hector), Darcy (Glenda) and her sister-in-law Gladys Forrest. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Violet’s family would like to say thank you to the staff at Olive Devaud Residence, Evergreen Extended Care Unit, Dr. Watson and nurse Lisa.

A service for Violet will be held Friday, September 13 at 1 pm at Stubberfield Funeral Home, with reception to follow.

Jim Norman Smith

Jim was born November 11, 1923 in Maymont, SK, passed away September 11, 2013 in Powell River at the age of 89. He is survived by his daughters Elaine McDonald and Laura Prussner both of Powell River and Constance of Burnaby, also grandchildren Paul and Louis and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys in 2009.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14 at 11:30 am at Powell River United Church with Reverend Maxine Pirie officiating.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation if desired. Arrangements entrusted to Stubberfield Funeral Home Ltd.
