Jean Ruth Swain, February 27, 1923 – September 17, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean. She was unexpectedly taken from us on September 17, 2011. Jean was predeceased by husband Ron in 1987 and son Garry in 2010.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean. She was unexpectedly taken from us on  September 17, 2011. Jean was predeceased by husband Ron in 1987 and son Garry in 2010. She is  survived by daughters Anne (Tom) McCartney, Deb Swain, Diane (Tom) Schrauwen and Gail Swain;  grandchildren Brenda Monczko, Darlene McCartney, Allen McCartney, Tanya Swain and Ashley Swain; great-grandchildren Laura and Michael Monczko, Johnny and Sarah Vliegenthart and many other family  and friends.

There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, September 24, at 2 pm at Town Centre Hotel, 4660  Joyce Avenue. There will be a reception to follow the service.

Beryl Coupland (née Pitt), December 4, 1924 - September 11, 2011

Beryl passed away peacefully on September 11, 2011. She was predeceased by her first husband Stan  Willes, and her sons Rod and Tony. She is survived by her loving husband Gord, and faithful daughter Cheryl (Marvin) Nyl as well as grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and extended family.

Beryl was born in Victoria. As a young woman she completed her training at the Provincial Normal School in 1945 and taught in Uclulet and on Texada Island. Beryl, her husband and five-month old daughter  moved to Texada in 1949 to open a butcher shop. She lived the rest of her days on Texada as an active and respected member of the community.

She leaves behind many longtime friends with fond memories. In lieu of flowers a donation in Beryl’s honour may be made to a charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday,  September 24 from 12:30 - 2 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Texada Branch.


Michael Bacon, September 18, 1989 - September 5, 2011

“Gone but forever in our hearts”

Michael passed away suddenly September 5, 2011. He was predeceased by his patriarchal and  matriarchal grandparents and is survived by his mother Heather Bacon and sister Lindsey of Courtenay,  BC, father Rob Bacon of Victoria, BC, aunt Elaine Trodd of Moose Jaw, SK and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by his many relatives and friends.
