With the autumnal equinox passing earlier this week, the upcoming Fall Fair, a fundraiser in support of Powell River Farmers’ Agricultural Institute, provides the ideal time to celebrate bounties from the harvest and showcase products from all over the qathet region.

After two years of COVID-19 restrictions, the annual gathering presents an opportunity for local producers to display the results of their hard work and expertise in an environment relaxed from previous pandemic rules. Everything from fruits and vegetables, flowers, preserves, cakes, photographs, art, Lego models, quilts and more will be on display and available for sale, according to organizers. And let’s not forget about the usual eats and treats that are part of every farmers’ market!

In addition to the food and product booths, a main stage will host a variety of entertainers, while pony rides, train rides and the always popular animal barn full of livestock will provide entertainment for all ages.

This year’s fair promises to be even better with the planned combination of activities and entertainment.

Bring your appetite and vote with your wallet. Next month you will be voting at the polls, and although there are some excellent choices in City of Powell River, qathet Regional District and School District 47 elections, some of which can be found in this issue (more next week), they won’t be quite as tasty as the choices you make at the Fall Fair.

The 2022 Fall Fair takes place from noon to 5 pm on Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, at Paradise Exhibition Park (4365 McLeod Road). Will you be there?
