Every year, as the leaves turn to vibrant shades of red and orange, the community comes together to celebrate its rich agricultural heritage at the annual Fall Fair.
A cherished tradition for more than 90 years, the Powell River Farmers’ Agricultural Institute event encapsulates the essence of rural life, fostering a sense of community, pride and camaraderie (see story on page 10).
The fair showcases the hard work and dedication of local farmers, gardeners and artisans who proudly display the fruits of their labour. From prize-winning fruits and vegetables to blooming flowers and delectable homemade pies and preserves, the fair highlights talents and passions that make this community special.
Families come together to pass down traditions and knowledge, teaching younger generations the value of hard work and the joys of rural living. It’s a place where children can marvel at farm animals and learn about where their food comes from.
Beyond its agricultural roots, the Fall Fair at Paradise Exhibition Grounds offers entertainment, including live music and train rides, and a plethora of choices foodies can choose from for lunch or a snack. It’s a time for neighbours to catch up, for local businesses to shine and for everyone to revel in the simple pleasures of life.
As we gather to celebrate the fall harvest, remember the importance of preserving our heritage and supporting our local businesses, growers and artisans. This event is a reminder that in a fast-paced world, the values of tradition, togetherness and hard work still hold a special place in our hearts.
