As we gather to commemorate Canada Day, it is an opportune moment to reflect on our nation’s resilience and spirit.
Over the past few years, we have confronted unprecedented challenges, yet emerged stronger than ever. COVID-19 tested our resolve, but we navigated the storm together. Health-care professionals, essential workers and fellow citizens demonstrated immense courage and compassion, reminding us of the true essence of being Canadian.
On July 1, acknowledge the rich Indigenous heritage that shapes our country’s fabric, starting with the traditional and treaty lands of the Tla’amin people we live, work and play on. By honouring contributions and perspectives of First Nations, we take a crucial step toward reconciliation and forging a more harmonious future.
As we celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday, during festivities at Willingdon Beach (3 to 10:30 pm) or elsewhere, let us also remember that strength lies in our unity. Together, we can continue building a nation that champions progress, equality and compassion.
Happy Canada Day!
