Letter: Fireworks a tone-deaf decision

"For all those who marvelled as the sky lit up, did you think about the families who are watching their sky light up?" ~ Steve Perkins

As wildfires fully rage around our planet, including here at home in British Columbia, a provincial state of emergency has been declared as our fellow British Columbians traumatically flee their homes into an uncertain future, and Powell River powers that be decided to forge ahead with a fireworks display [“Blackberry Festival in qathet region dates back to 1980s,” August 14]?

This decision was completely disrespectful and totally tone deaf. For all those who marvelled as the sky lit up, did you think about the families who are watching their sky light up?

Time to evolve to a laser show with accompanying music by CFPW-FM (95.7 Coast FM).
