Letter: Laws recognize women’s rights

Does anyone think an abortion is a good alternative to prevention [“Anti-abortion group plans demonstration,” April 11]? No; it is a deeply damaging occurence for all concerned.

Does anyone think an abortion is a good alternative to prevention [“Anti-abortion group plans demonstration,” April 11]?

No; it is a deeply damaging occurence for all concerned. So instead of having a demonstration against abortion, why not direct that energy toward positive goals like more personal care education for young people, better access to family planning and support for women who find themselves unable to carry through an untenable pregnancy? Wouldn't that be the humane approach?

The laws of our country recognize the right of women to reproductive self-determination. Instead of 10,000 flags, how about a million kind words and a million hugs here in our compassionate city?
