BC Ferries’ numerous mechanical breakdowns have now become a staple reason provided for their ongoing delays. Where is their preventative maintenance plan? The only plans we seem to see are reactive and corrective, which is wreaking havoc on the Coast’s ability to rely on reliable service between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale. It’s absurd for any corporation to be continually reporting this kind of mean time between failure, not to mention rather embarrassing.
On the BC Ferries website, their vision and mission statement reads: “We are more than a marine transportation company — it is our vision to be trusted and valued to deliver our mission of connecting communities and customers to the people and places important in their lives.
We do this by focusing our core operations on delivering safe, reliable, efficient, and affordable service.”
As a maintenance professional, I can say this with complete confidence to whomever is focusing on “core operations”: your optometrist called.
