Letter: Total backfire

This created system is wreaking havoc on our streets and our emergency department at the hospital...

It is totally understood that these overdose prevention sites help and give hope for the addicted individuals [“Letter: Overdose prevention site is a needed service,” August 18].

The main problem is that the City of Powell River/qathet Regional District are attracting individuals from other parts of the province to come here. Every day there are new arrivals to our city/region.

This is a total backfire as to what the original intention is for our local society. This created system is wreaking havoc on our streets and our emergency department at the hospital, plus many more negative effects.

The intention is clear. The result is utmost failure overall.

We have a mess, to say the least, on the doorsteps of each and every individual in our community.
