I feel the need to comment on [Powell River seniors council member] Maureen Tierny’s reported statement [“Region’s transit system an area of concern for seniors,” October 3] that the handyDART drivers could use sensitivity training.
My experience with our driver for the Adult Day Program is that he is always patient, kind and helpful. I suspect this opinion is shared by other members of our group since I have never heard anything be positive remarks on his service and behaviour.
I can’t speak about the other two drivers but I haven’t heard any complaints. Even if they deserve this branding, I feel it is unfair to include our driver in the group when things like this can cause considerable upset and even affect a person’s career.
