Matters beyond clothing

In response to “Clothing material to fundraising success” [January 7], I think it is presumptuous of inclusion Powell River to think that they can make better use of revenue received from recycled clothing than Powell River Health-Care Auxiliary does.

The auxiliary has a proven track record of demonstrating its commitment to all of the residents of Powell River with the major contributions it has made to the hospital over the years as well as its donation to the Willingdon Creek Village facility. All of its dedicated workers are volunteers who have nothing to gain, except personal satisfaction, from their involvement with their charity of choice. inclusion Powell River, on the other hand, is funded by the provincial government to serve a relatively few members of the community and has a full slate of paid management.

The article in the Peak seems to imply that there is some doubt as to who within the auxiliary, if anyone, was contacted by inclusion Powell River. This apparent lack of concern for other fundraisers doesn’t reflect too well on the integrity of the inclusion Powell River management.

I hope that most civic-minded people will continue to donate to the Economy Shop and its team of like-minded volunteers.
