I’m writing this letter in frustration because of the ALR (Agricultural Land Reserve) and municipal decision regarding the loop on Hemlock Street. [“City of Powell River has two courses of action to deal with Hemlock Street loop,” December 7].
We drive up that street periodically and find it enhances the development in that area. I feel it is also essential for emergency services to access that area via the loop.
The ALC (Agricultural Land Commission) will probably never do anything about developing in the small space bordering the soccer field or housing development. As a tax-paying resident, it frustrates me that [City of Powell River] council will spend our tax dollars so foolishly.
I hope many more residents also support the idea to leave it as is. There are more important issues in our city that need attention.
