B.C. Premier John Horgan announced he'd be following the federal government's lead in declaring a national day of mourning September 19 to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Peak polled 754 readers and asked the question: Do you agree with the BC government's decision to cancel school for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral?

The poll ran from 9/14/2022 to 9/20/2022. Of the 754 votes, we can determine that 420 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes 41.43 % local, 39.52 % total
No 58.57 % local, 60.48 % total
  Local   Total

Results are based on an online study of Peak readers who are located in the qathet region. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 3.47%, 19 times out of 20.

The Peak uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
