It’s no secret that young people have made the collective decision to take our future into our own hands and fight for a better world that we can look forward to.

All over the news and social media, you can read about global walkouts, strikes, demonstrations and rallies. Greta Thunberg has become the inspiration for youth worldwide and has taught us that we do have a voice and that we can make a difference. Kids are coming together to show the world that we need a change now. Without a doubt, we have many walls to overcome and it won’t be easy, but we aren’t alone.

Our parents, our grandparents, our family friends and elder members of our community have stepped up and advocated for us. They’ve heard our demands for change and stand beside us. It’s incredible to see the people we look up to do everything in their power to help us and ensure we have hope for the generations to come.

In our own community, we have amazing examples of support.

In Powell River, being the small town it is, it’s no surprise that there is an overwhelming feeling of closeness. We are incredibly fortunate to have such amazing members of the population who are willing to be there for us as well as offer us resources and aid for our cause.

Now is the time that we stick together. We all have one thing in common, and that is our home.

Together we can have an impact on our planet.
