Powell River voters return Reid and Skinner to school board positions

Incumbents claim two of five seats in general election

Incumbent school trustees Aaron Reid and Doug Skinner held onto Powell River Board of Education seats based on unofficial results after receiving the second and third most votes of the eight candidates running in the general election on Saturday, October 20.

Reid collected 3.495 votes while Skinner was named on 2,780 of the ballots cast by residents of qathet Regional District and City of Powell River, as well as Tla’amin Nation citizens.

Departing City of Powell River councillor Russell Brewer led the way with 3,878 votes.

With five seats available, candidates Dale Lawson (2,439) and Jack Timothy (2,399) finished fourth and fifth, unofficially earning the final two seats at the table.

Paula Stewart received 2,057 votes; Peter Taylor was named on 1,954 ballots and Troy Marshall finished with 1,461 votes.
