UPDATED: Formosa celebrates City of Powell River election results

Incumbent mayor tops unofficial ballots; incumbent councillors lead voting for council seats

Incumbent City of Powell River mayor Dave Formosa celebrated unofficial general election results with his wife Laurie [left] and his mom Lucy at a gathering at the Shinglemill Pub in Powell River in the evening of Saturday, October 20.

After winning the mayoral race in 2011 and being acclaimed for a second term in 2014, Formosa garnered 2,642 votes to earn a third term. Ron Woznow finished with 1,992 votes while Glenn Holstine received 164 votes.

Incumbent city councillors CaroleAnn Leishman (3,084), Maggie Hathaway (3,052), Rob Southcott (3,043) and Jim Palm (2,354) led the 13 candidates vying for six council seats in the unofficial vote total. Cindy Elliott received the fifth most votes with 1,842. George Doubt was next with 1,766, just two more than Allan Drummond's total of 1,764.

In the race for five positions on School District 47 board of trustees, unofficial results from City of Powell River include: Russell Brewer, 3,159 votes; Aaron Reid, 2,828 votes; Doug Skinner, 2,244 votes; Dale Lawson, 1,881 votes; Jack Timothy, 1,880 votes; Paula Stewart, 1,561 votes; Peter Taylor, 1,514 votes; Troy Marshall, 1,200 votes.
