While Vancouver's housing market has been hot, not every property is selling for its original asking price.
For example, this eight-bed, 12-bathroom West Point Grey home (described as a "luxurious mansion") is going for $19.84 million right now. Last spring it was listed for $22.68 million; that's a $2.84 million discount.
With .88 of an acre at 4778 Drummond Dr., it's neighbours with the famed "Billionaires' Row" on Belmont Avenue...and this 1996 house its the bill.
The home has a variety of fancy aspects, from an Italian-style fountain in the yard surrounded by what appears to be cherry trees, to views of English Bay and the North Shore Mountains, to a five-car garage, to an award-winning kitchen that won a few gold Georgie Awards (the annual local homebuilders' awards).
While it might not be the castle from Beauty and the Beast, it does have its own library with plenty of built-in shelf space for favourite reads, and there's a separate home theatre for movie nights.
And the primary suite (served by an in-house elevator) is the entire top floor.
There's also a rec room, wet bar, and even a two-bedroom "nanny's quarters."
The house was last sold in 2014 for $15.85 million and is currently assessed at $19.28 million (it was ranked the 118th-most expensive residential property in B.C. in 2024).
For comparison, there's currently a modern villa in the mountains of southern Spain selling for $19.5 million or a 15th-century French castle selling for $12.7 million.
