Coastal Breeze Village in Powell River offers independent living amid numerous amenities

Spaces designed for comfort and safety

Coastal Breeze Village by Golden Life in Powell River is ready for residents to move in and be surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbours while enjoying a carefree retirement.

Golden Life is a family company from Cranbrook, BC, which believes in supporting independence, security, opportunity and vitality to enable its residents to live their best lives.

The suites are called independent living suites because residents have complete control over how they spend their time. Each studio, one- and two-bedroom suites have a bright, modern kitchen with a stove and fridge, a three-piece bathroom with walk-in shower, a walk-in storage room, individually controlled heat and 24-hour monitoring service.

“You are able to decorate your suite and bring your own furniture to make the space truly your home,” explains David Morris, leasing manager for Coastal Breeze Village.

Residents can choose to dine in the Chef’s Dining Room or at the Breakwater Bistro & Pub (opening soon) for their evening meals, which offer fresh and healthy food prepared onsite by a chef.

“Imagine having your choice of roast turkey, lasagna or beef vegetable stew all served with fresh buns and your choice of soup or salad,” says Morris. “With all the time saved not having to prepare your own meals or look after your own home, you will be able to take in all the amenities Coastal Breeze Village has to offer.”

Shared spaces are designed for residents’ safety and comfort, with high ceilings, wide open corridors, natural light and centrally located elevators for easy access. The facility includes a games room, as well as a beauty salon, well-stocked library, fitness studio, hobby shop, crafts room, family dining and party room, and much more.

“The staff is wonderful, the meals are great, the rooms are lovely, everything is great,” says resident Judy Frederick, who was the first to move in on November 16. “I’ve never been in an apartment this size. I had to do a lot of downsizing but I don’t think I’m going to miss anything. They have everything here.”

Frederick is impressed with the look of the village, inside and out, and especially keen about the craft room since she has an affinity for knitting and sewing.

“I love it here, and I think anyone who can’t cut the grass anymore and or do all the things it takes to keep a house up would feel the same,” she adds. “This is the place to be."

Complimentary shuttle bus service, convenient interior mailboxes and complimentary housekeeping are just some of the services included in monthly fees.

“Since we started leasing the Coastal Breeze Village in October of 2019 we have seen a high level of interest not only locally, but from the Lower Sunshine Coast, the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island,” says Morris. “All the individuals who we have spoken to have said this service is very much needed in Powell River. With the village now 85 per cent leased, we anticipate that by the new year we will be at 100 per cent occupancy.”
