Condos in Powell River feature ocean views and central location

Abalone Developments unveils eight-unit Tyee Landing building

It’s complete. The condos at Tyee Landing, Powell River’s newest ocean-view gem, are now for sale and ready for immediate occupancy. 

“We want everyone to know, it’s finished now and they are ready for sale and ready to move in,” says local site supervisor and contractor Gary Gill.

Tyee Landing is centrally located on Duncan Street, has public transit right outside the building and is just down the road from Powell River Airport. Shopping, groceries, restaurants and green space are all within walking distance.

“The reason we built the project is to provide an available option to young people entering the market, through to those in the boomer group who are getting to the point where they don’t want the work or physically can’t manage the maintenance of a full-sized house and yard,” says Abalone Developments president Donald Gill.

Abalone Developments is dedicated to providing a higher class product as is shown in all the finishes and extra touches. The interior of the two-bed, two-bath units are modern and feature expansive nine-foot ceilings, vinyl plank flooring, custom cabinets with quartz countertops and custom blinds.

Each unit also includes six high-end appliances with the convenience of in-suite laundry. The five burner stove runs off of natural gas, as does the radiant in floor heating and hot water.

“Everything is on natural gas and each unit has its own meter, providing owners with control of how much they spend,” explains Don. “There is no centralized forced air coming from any other unit; it’s a personalized home comfort system.”

The condos range between 1,087 and 1,108 square feet and feature 100 square feet of deck space, including a gas barbecue hookup. There are views of the Salish Sea and the coastal mountains of Vancouver Island, including the Comox Glacier.

“Imagine the view from your kitchen, watching for whales and eagles in flight,” says Don.

Buyers can take comfort in knowing the building is architecturally designed and engineered by a geotechnical consultant and a structural engineer. Each floor was built with anchors and hold-downs to withstand earthquakes and high winds. There are built-in fire sprinklers in every room and water lines on both sides of the building for fire protection.

“It has to be the safest place in Powell River to live,” says Don.

Composite wood decking and James Hardie products were chosen for the exterior due to the durability and low maintenance for potential buyers. There is also peace of mind in knowing the building carries the Pacific Home Warranty Program.

“We built for people who are looking for the security of a small community with all the amenities and recreation that Powell River has to offer,” says Don. “It’s just an incredible location; there’s nothing that compares to it.”
