Growing up in Northern Ontario, with her mom as a teacher and her dad as principal of the local high school, Nancy always thought she would follow in her parent’s footsteps. University degrees in physical education and teaching led Nancy to realize that teaching wasn’t satisfying her thirst for business, so she went on to establish her own employment agency in downtown Toronto, which she built up and sold.
Nancy wanted to continue helping people and more importantly, help people make smart fiscal decisions that would affect them for the rest of their lives. She went through training to become a trusted Investment Advisor with Nesbitt Burns, managing her client’s portfolios and assets.
Of course, always the adventurer, Nancy had also been working simultaneously on her pilot’s licence and float rating. A lifelong ski enthusiast and avid outdoors person, Nancy knew it was time to make the move out west and discover everything the west coast had to offer.
Transitioning investment advising skills to real estate was a natural fit for Nancy, and in 2009 she made the move to become a licensed Realtor. She was a top agent in the Sea to Sky region for several years. This reputation followed Nancy when she arrived in the qathet region in 2020.
“I am very grateful for the referrals that I still receive today from my connections to the mainland,” she says.
The move to qathet was years in the making, knowing that she wanted to move to an area that would fulfill the lifestyle she wanted but also aligned with her long-standing values. Joining 460 Realty was seamless, the perfect fit for her to contribute her insights and collaborate with a diverse group of like-minded agents.
For Nancy, the heart of her profession lies in the genuine care she has for her clients. She focuses on guiding them through the whole process, no matter how long it takes to achieve their goals.
“I really listen to my clients. I am up front and honest about what it may take to help them achieve their real estate goals.”
This joy is compounded with her long-standing clients.
“It is so rewarding to have helped clients’ purchase a home, and then they move on to something else or downsize, and then I get the opportunity to assist their children with an apartment or starter home,” says Nancy. “The real estate industry is always changing; for every easy transaction, there can be three difficult ones.
“That is why my approach always remains the same. I’m there for my clients, and I want them to be happy. At the end of the day, real estate is about people, not properties.”
Nancy’s down to earth and diplomatic approach to real estate allows her to understand and manage the diverse expectations of buyers and sellers. Her ability to manage expectations effectively leads to successful outcomes for both parties.
“I love the sense of community here with the connection to local artists and businesses,” she says. “The ocean and forest nourish my soul.”
