Wow, what a difference 10 years of hard work makes. Powell River’s Heating & Cooling Specialists have just moved into their newly expanded location on Duncan Street (former Quality Parts location).

Born and raised in Powell River, Tempco owner Tye Leishman had an idea to start a local business focused on providing the best customer service, employing the highest trained technicians and supporting the community. While the location is new, that same service and support will be available.

“Providing such a high level of professionalism, many customers initially think Tempco is a franchise,” says Leishman. “We are 100 per cent locally owned, operated and independent.”

Tempco is also the factory-authorized expert in Powell River for York, Regency, Carrier, Trane, Mitsubishi and Fujitsu high-efficient heating and cooling systems.

Whether customers are looking to improve air quality in their homes, considering upgrades to existing home heating systems or having them tuned up and inspected, Tempco has been the trusted choice of Powell River homeowners for 10 years.

“We have been helping homeowners save money and improve the comfort of their homes by upgrading existing heating systems with installations of high-efficient heat pumps, natural gas furnaces and Regency gas fireplaces, including Rinnai natural gas tankless hot water heaters,” explains Leishman.

Tye and his wife Jeanette are extremely proud of the highly trained expertise and capability of team members Matt McDowell, Colin Turner, Dean Merrick, Tristan Pope, André Huiberts, Jeff Tucker, Crystal Burnett and Erin MacLean.

“All Tempco heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians are expertly trained to handle any heating, air conditioning or commercial refrigeration requirements,” says Leishman.

Company qualifications include government Red Seal-certified tradesmen, including refrigeration journeymen, electrical journeymen and gas fitters.

“Being an electrical contractor enables us to complete a variety of jobs from start to finish, without the need to hire outside subcontractors,” says Leishman. “Tempco truly is your one-stop local HVAC shop.”

Jeanette, a chartered professional accountant, takes care of the accounting components of the business, while Crystal and Erin talk to clients in need of service.

“We know having the right people on the job is just as important as choosing the right equipment,” says Leishman.

With energy efficiency and rising energy costs on every customer’s mind, Tempco offers many choices for upgrading existing heating systems.

“FortisBC is offering a $1,700 rebate to homeowners who choose to switch out old, inefficient oil furnaces and replace them with high-efficient natural gas furnaces,” says Leishman. “And Fortis just announced if you have your heating system and/or fireplace serviced by October 31, you could qualify for a $25 rebate on each.”

Also, an $800 rebate is available from BC Hydro for customers installing a high-efficient ductless heat pump.

“Combine that with our special consumer financing and thousands of dollars in manufacturers’ rebate offers and now is the perfect time to consider investing in high efficiency for your home,” says Leishman.

Due to its mild West Coast climate, Powell River is one the best locations for an air source heat pump. Tempco offers two types: forced air units, using existing air ducts, and ductless units that can be installed to replace existing, inefficient electric baseboard heaters.

Tempco staff encourages all current and future customers to drop by the new location.

“An operational heat pump will be on display and employees are always happy to provide details about products and services,” says Leishman.
